Tell Us In 10: Lucy Eaton

By Kitty Underwood First Published 11 November 2019, Last Updated 13 November 2019

In our profile series, Tell Us In 10, we ask cast members and creatives of top London shows to tell us all about themselves in just 10 questions. This week we’ve got a special takeover from the cast of A Day In The Death Of Joe Egg, currently playing at Trafalgar Studios. First up, we have Lucy Eaton, who plays Pam. Keep your eyes peeled for Storme Toolis and Claire Skinner this week!

1. My route into theatre was…

Bike (mint green Brompton – my beloved)!

2. My West End idol is…

Judi Dench.

Dame Judi Dench with the Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in The Winter’s Tale in 2016

3. My colleagues would describe me as…

Obnoxiously cheery

4. My favourite show present or past (that isn’t one I star in) is…

The Inheritance. I went twice, I gave standing ovations, I cried so hard I got a headache. And Design for Living at the Old Vic in 2010 with Andrew Scott, Lisa Dillon and Tom Burke. I went twice, I gave standing ovations, I laughed so hard a bit of wee came out.

Kyle Soller with his award for Best Actor at the Olivier Awards 2019 for his role in The Inheritance. Presenters: Bill Pullman and Sally Field.

5. The career moment I’m most proud of is…

Producing (and acting in) a 7-actor version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at Southwark Playhouse with my company, Go People. Directed by Simon Evans and with incredible cast including Freddie Fox and Maddy Hill, it is the most magical thing I’ve ever been involved with.

6. The hardest part about my role is…

The waiting…

7. If I didn’t work in theatre I would be…

A geographer of some kind. A full-time climate-change fixer!

The cast of A Day In The Death Of Joe Egg

8. Something people don’t know about me is…

I’m part Greek

9. The best piece of advice I’ve ever been given is…

Don’t go into an audition wanting that specific job. Go into the audition wanting to show off what a great actor and generally nice person you are, so the director and casting director use you in the future. Removes the sense of desperation.

10. The one thing I wish I could tell my younger self is…

You’ll end up being a member of the Club at the Ivy!

You can catch Lucy Eaton in A Day In The Death Of Joe Egg at Trafalgar Studios until 30 November.
