Tell Us In 10: Iona Fraser

Published 31 July 2023

In our profile series, Tell Us In 10, we ask cast members and creatives of top London shows to tell us all about themselves in just 10 questions. From how their castmates would describe them and alternative careers, to their Theatreland idols, we want to know it all!

This week, we hear from Iona Fraser, who’s currently playing Annie in The Play That Goes Wrong.

Find out more about Iona and her career so far below:

1. My route into theatre was…

I worked in theme parks and entertainment for 7 years. Thorpe Park, Legoland, London Dungeon, Butlins… the list goes on. I realised that my real passion was theatre and I wrote to loads of agents, got signed and started getting in the room. I eventually made my way into the West End.

2. My West End idol is…

Does the National Theatre count? If so, then Michaela Coel.

3. My colleagues would describe me as…

Funny, loves to quote from films, tired.

4. My favourite show present or past (that isn’t one I star in) is…

Hamilton & Operation Mincemeat.

5. The career moment I’m most proud of is…

When I got to sing (twice) at The Royal Albert Hall representing Dear Evan Hansen.

6. The hardest part about my role is…

One day off a week haha!

7. If I didn’t work in theatre I would be…

A film critic.

8. Something people don’t know about me is…

I don’t like chocolate cake or chocolate ice cream.

9. The best piece of advice I’ve ever been given is…

“No matter how important or highly renowned a person is, they still go to the toilet, so don’t stress too much about what they think.” – My sister

10. The one thing I wish I could tell my younger self is…

Say no more if you’re uncomfortable with something and don’t feel guilty for saying no!
