Stubbs stars in Talbot’s Third Finger

Published 25 February 2013

Imogen Stubbs (pictured on the right) will return to the Trafalgar Studio 2 later this year to star in Ian Talbot’s production of Third Finger, Left Hand.

Playing a limited three-week run from 3 April (press night 4 April), Third Finger, Left Hand tells the story of Niamh and Grace, two sisters who come together following their mother’s death to reminisce over a box of old photographs.

Based on actor and writer Dermot Canavan’s own experiences, the play tells a deeply moving story of growing up in the 1970s, exploring the siblings’ journey from their harsh and violent upbringing to the dance clubs of the emerging Northern Soul scene where they find their exhilarating escape.

Last seen at the intimate Whitehall venue in the Olivier Award nominated production Salt, Root And Roe, Stubbs’ numerous stage credits include starring roles in Alphabetical Order at the Hampstead theatre, Hamlet at the Old Vic theatre and Little Eyolf at the Jermyn Street theatre, while, on screen, she has appeared in films including Sense And Sensibility, Twelfth Night and Jack And Sarah.

Stubbs will be joined in the production by Amanda Daniels, who returns to the role of Grace following her award-winning appearance in Third Finger, Left Hand at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Well known for her television appearances in EastEnders and Doc Martin, Daniels returns to the London stage following her role in Shivered at the Southwark Playhouse.

Former Artistic Director of the Regent’s Park Open Air theatre, Talbot’s directing credits include High Society and Lady Be Good at the alfresco venue, and Lend Me A Tenor The Musical at the Gielgud theatre.

Third Finger, Left Hand will open at the Trafalgar Studio 2 following Jack Thorne’s Mydidae, an authentic and intimate exploration of a relationship between two people staged in a fully plumbed bathroom.
