Kinky Boots

First Published 31 March 2017, Last Updated 10 April 2017

Our Show Of The Week from 3 – 8 April is Kinky Boots

‘Everybody say Yeah, Yeah!

That was the response everyone gave last night when I asked my crew of family and friends if they’d enjoyed the show – everyone most definitely said ‘Yeah, yeah’, actually is was more of chorus of loudly cheered ‘Yes, Yes!’

Cyndi Lauper couldn’t have written a more fitting lyric.

For ages now, ever since Kinky Boots first landed in the UK, Mum had been dropping not so subtle hints about how much her and her pals wanted to see the show; anytime the movie was on; anytime a Cyndi Lauper track came on the radio, without fail I’d be reminded how much she wanted to see the show.

Last week, Mum finally got the chance, along with friends and a few other members of our family.

We all arrived in our finest Kinky Boots inspired attire (Mum broke out the sparkly ankle boots!). All of us very excited to finally watch the show and excitement really is what this show gives.

It might have been Thursday evening, but Kinky Boots leaves you feeling like it’s Saturday night party time. A glance to my side showed me a row of beaming smiles, grins stretched wide across their happy faces; eyes glued to the action on stage.

Mum was moved to tears by Matt Henry as Lola when he sings the touching ‘Not my Father’s Son’ and in the next second she’s foot stomping along and whooping away with her pals at the close of Act One!
‘Price & Son’ might make shoes for a range of men, but Kinky Boots is a show most definitely made for a range of people; young and old; men and women; and of course all those in between or yet to make up their mind!

The interval was buzzing with chatter from the crowd, Mum and her pals all wondering how those sexy guys on stage manage to master high kicks and splits wearing six inch heels!

By the end of Act Two, we were all up on our feet. We had a blast – the whole audience did and you could tell the cast did too. The flurry of texts received late last night from my family and friends told me what a great time they all had.

Well I say thank you to those Kinky Boots!
