Young people’s workshop at Open Air

First Published 17 April 2008, Last Updated 21 April 2008

The MacbethsThe season at the Open Air theatre in Regent’s Park is underway with weather-hardy theatregoers bringing their jumpers and picnic blankets to the leafy venue to see two Shakespeare classics, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Macbeth.

As part of its season, the Open Air is offering public workshops for young people based around the plays in performance. On Saturday 16 June there are two workshops focusing on Macbeth – one for 8-11 year olds (at 10:00) and the other for 12-15 year olds (at midday). The workshops provide an excellent introduction to Shakespeare and allow participants to experiment with characterisation, improvisation and Shakespeare’s language. The workshops are the ideal precursor to an evening in the park watching the company in performance.

Each session lasts 90 minutes and costs £5 per child. To book, call 0845 673 2151.

Macbeth and A Midsummer Night’s Dream run in repertoire until 18 August. CB
