West End run for Jesse Eisenberg’s Spoils

Academy Award nominee Jesse Eisenberg will lead the West End premiere of his Off Broadway comedy hit The Spoils alongside The Big Bang Theory’s Kunal Nayyar at the Trafalgar Studios this summer.

The Spoils will transfer to the West End venue from 27 May to 13 August following its 2015 critically acclaimed run at New York’s The Pershing Square Signature Center.

Eisenberg and Nayyar will reprise their roles as roommates Ben and Kalyan in the tragicomedy described as a “cuttingly satirical glimpse of a lost soul searching to assent the reality of his situation.”

The Spoils is the third play by Eisenberg, who is best known for his many Hollywood film roles in hits including The Social Network, Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice and Zombieland.

The timely comedy centres on the unlikeable Ben as he discovers that his school crush is marrying a straight-laced banker. Determined to win her back, he sets out to destroy their relationship.

Commenting on its forthcoming West End run, Eisenberg said “The Spoils explores issues as disparate as stunted sexuality and the politics of the deposed Nepalese Monarchy, NFL on Fox and the fluctuating prices of tea on the agrarian market. It’s about how all of these seemingly unrelated things intersect to create a portrait of life in a complicated, heterogeneous society. I’m thrilled to perform this play in London, such an incredible centre for theatre.”

The Spoils’ director Scott Elliott commented: “Everyone knows Jesse the brilliant film actor but Jesse the theatre artist is truly remarkable, and I’m thrilled and honoured to be able to introduce his work to the West End.”

Further casting for The Spoils is still to be announced. You can book tickets to see the show through us now here.
