First Published 17 April 2008, Last Updated 15 May 2008

We Will Rock You, the blockbuster Queen musical, is celebrating its fifth year in the West End on 14 May with a special performance involving the show’s creators and some mystery special guests.

Previous special guests have included Pink, Beyonce, Britney Spears and McFly.

The show as now the longest running musical at the Dominion – the previous record holder being Grease, which ran for three years and three months at the venue.

The success of the show looks set to continue as the producers have announced that they are extending the show until October 2008, which will take it into its seventh year. Tickets for the fifth anniversary show are on sale now at usual prices.

Also extending its run in the West End is the Rufus Norris-directed production of Cabaret at the Lyric, which is now booking until 1 March 2008. Cabaret opened in October 2006 and won two Laurence Olivier Awards; Best Choreographer for Javier De Frutos and Best Supporting Performance in A Musical for original cast member Sheila Hancock.

Three new cast members have recently joined Cabaret. Kim Medcalf has taken over from Anna Maxwell-Martin as Sally Bowles, Honor Blackman is playing Fraulein Schneider, previously played by Sheila Hancock, and Francis Matthews has joined as Herr Schultz.
