Video: Olivier Award nominees react

First Published 9 March 2015, Last Updated 18 March 2015

At an exclusive event at Rosewood London earlier today, a room full of nervous and excited theatre industry insiders and star performers waited with bated breath to hear whether acclaimed performers Lesley Manville and James McAvoy would call their names in this year’s prestigious roll call of Olivier Awards with MasterCard nominees.

We were there, sat and tweeting amongst them, watching as McAvoy coyly smiled when Manville read his name from the Best Actor shortlist, Sunny Afternoon’s John Dagleish held his hands in shock as he joined the Olivier Awards’ nominees club and the company of King Charles III went wild, whooping with every mention for Best Director nominee Rupert Goold’s play.

Once they’d had a second to catch their breath and grab a sneaky glass of wine on their way to meet the press, we spoke to the nominees who were in attendance to find out exactly how they were feeling. Expect tears, disbelief and generous gobsmacked wonder…

You can read a full list of nominees here.
