Toad scoops City Hall home

First Published 21 April 2010, Last Updated 22 April 2010

City Hall will be turned into Toad Hall this summer as The Scoop at More London stages a new adaptation of Kenneth Grahame’s popular story The Wind In The Willows from 4 August to 5 September.

The Scoop at More London is the capital’s outdoor amphitheatre by City Hall which every year offers a season of theatre, absolutely free, produced by theatre company The Steam Industry.

This summer’s family offering, Toad Hall!, centres on Toad, the famous character from Grahame’s story who wants to be more famous than he already is. In fact he wants to be the fastest, coolest, bravest, brightest and most celebrated toad on the planet. The only trouble is Toad is yet to find anything he is good at. But when his ancestral home, Toad Hall, is threatened with invasion, Toad must employ every tactic he can think of to fend them off.

The Steam Industry’s light-hearted production intends to make full use of its outdoor setting as the Thames becomes the riverbank of the story and nearby City Hall becomes Toad’s precious home. Puppets, music and plenty of jolly japes help bring the story to life.

Toad Hall! plays at The Scoop at More London along with The Steam Industry’s second production, Don Juan In Love.

Booking is not required for either show.
