Theatre Spot Test: Name the inspirational musicals

Robin Johnson

So we’ve had the summer Bank Holiday weekend, September is about to begin, and we’re starting to gear up for a busy Autumn season ahead. Looks like we’re in need of a bit of London musical inspiration.

Who doesn’t love that feelgood sensation of coming out a brilliant West End musical – energised, thrilled, cheered, and ready to take on the world? Sometimes, just one lyric is enough; one little snippet to remind you that today is the day you’ll conquer everything you set out to do.

Which brings us nicely onto this weekend’s Theatre Spot Test: we’ve given you a line from a showstopping song from the pantheon of West End and Broadway musicals which have sent audiences jumping to their feet at the curtain call. We’d like you to name not the song, but the actual musical, that they’re from. This is much, much harder than it sounds.

So get your weekend off to the start it deserves and enjoy some inspirational musical lyrics – you’ve 8 minutes on the clock! And make sure to let us know how you got on.
