The Cat In The Hat

The Cat and his Hat head to Greenwich

Published 31 January 2014

Dr Seuss fans can catch the first London revival of Katie Mitchell’s acclaimed adaptation of The Cat In The Hat at the Greenwich Theatre next month.

Innovative theatremaker Mitchell’s stage version of the classic children’s story premiered at the National Theatre in 2009. This brand new production directed by Lillie Collier will offer families the chance to catch one of 12 performances from 19 to 23 February.

Retelling the eccentric tale made famous following the publication of Dr Seuss’ iconic and hugely popular book more than 50 years ago, The Cat In The Hat features the famous red and white striped hat-wearing cat who appears at Sally and her brother’s door to turn a rainy afternoon into an amazing adventure.

The production features a cast comprising Ashley Bates, Paul Cleveland, Cassandra Harris, Robert Hannouch, Jill Regan and Andrew Beckett who will take on the roles of the book’s colourful list of characters from Cat to Thing 1 and 2.

The cast of the show, which is suitable for children aged three and older, will be offering a sneak preview of what audiences can expect at a special reading on 15 February. The event will take place at 12:00 at Waterstones on Greenwich Church Street.
