Swan Lake hits cinema screens

The Royal Ballet production of Swan Lake, which was staged at the Royal Opera House earlier this year, is to be screened in over 70 cinemas across the UK and Europe in May and June.

The ballet, which stars Marianela Nuñez and Thiago Soares in the lead roles of Swan Queen Odette and Prince Siegfried, will be screened in 2K digital cinema, the new technology pushing the boundaries of content cinemas are able to screen.

Anthony Dowell’s production, which was filmed for these screenings during its recent run at Covent Garden, sets the magical love story in Imperial Russia at the turn of the 19th century and reinstates rarely performed choreography based on notations made in St Petersburg before the 1917 revolution.

More information about the cinemas screening the production between 24 May and 30 June can be found at www.artsalliancemedia.com/opera/SwanLakeCinemas.html

The famous ballet returns to the Royal Opera House this summer, when it is performed as part of the Mariinsky Ballet season in August.
