Strictly stars Burn The Floor at Shaftesbury theatre

Brian Fortuna and Ali Bastian, who came third in the 2009 series of Strictly Come Dancing, will appear as guest dancers in sizzling ballroom show Burn The Floor when it plays at London’s Shaftesbury theatre this summer.

The globetrotting show, a spectacular blend of Latin and Ballroom routines performed by a cast of 20 award-winning dancers, will entertain West End audiences between 21 July and 4 September 2010.

Originally conceived as part of Elton John’s 50th birthday festivities in 1997, Burn The Floor received its world premiere two years later. It has since toured to more than 30 countries, bringing an exciting evening of foxtrot, charleston, cha-cha, salsa, tango, samba and more to a global audience.

The London production, which was seen in New York last year, features a truly global cast which shares more than 100 dance titles and is choreographed by former World Champion Latin and Ballroom dancer Jason Gilkison.

Actress Bastian (The Bill, Hollyoaks) and dancer Fortuna were many viewers’ favourites to win last year’s series of the popular celebrity dancing show Strictly Come Dancing. Though they were awarded the highest possible marks on two occasions, for dancing the Viennese Waltz and the American Smooth, they were eliminated by the voting public at the semi-final stage.
