Stars come out for Lloyd Webber’s 60th

Radio 2 will celebrate Andrew Lloyd Webber’s 60th birthday with a special live concert in Hyde Park on 14 September featuring musical theatre stars including Lee Mead and Elaine Paige.

Hosted by stage and television actor John Barrowman, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Birthday In The Park includes performances by Mead, who won the BBC’s reality show Any Dream Will Do to star in Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, musical theatre grande dame Paige, who has appeared in many of Lloyd Webber’s shows, West End stars Duncan James (Chicago) and Idina Menzel (Wicked), X-Factor’s Rhydian, singers Joss Stone and Hayley Westenra, former Jesus Christ Superstar Steve Balsamo and the musical maestro’s brother, the cellist Julian Lloyd Webber. The stars of the BBC’s I’d Do Anything and the 100-voice Crouch End Festival Chorus complete the line-up.

Accompanied by the 70-piece BBC Concert Orchestra, they will perform a selection of songs from Lloyd Webber’s many musicals, including Evita, Starlight Express, Cats, Sunset Boulevard and The Phantom Of The Opera.
