Jonathan Pryce, Lindsay Duncan and Sue Johnston are among those honoured in the Queen’s birthday honours list this year.

Duncan and Pryce, who have both been on the West End stage of late, receive CBEs for services to drama. Laurence Olivier Award-winning actress Duncan was last seen in Polly Stenham’s award-winning drama That Face at the Royal Court and the Duke of York’s and recently played Baroness Thatcher in television drama Margaret. Pryce was last on stage at the Donmar Warehouse in Dimetos earlier this year and is well known for numerous films including The Pirates Of The Caribbean trilogy.

Johnston was also last seen on stage at the Donmar Warehouse, in Small Change last year. The star of TV’s The Royle Family and Waking The Dead receives an OBE, as does Scottish-American actor Alan Cumming, whose honour recognises his campaigning for equal rights for the gay and lesbian community as well as his acting achievements. Cumming’s London stage credits include Bent, The Bacchae and Cabaret.

Veteran actor Christopher Lee receives a Knighthood. The actor, who became known in the 1950s for appearing in several Hammer horror films, has enjoyed a lengthy career encompassing around 250 film credits, lately including The Lord Of The Rings trilogy and Star Wars: Episode II.

Actors James Bolam (TV’s New Tricks, Born And Bred) and 94-year-old Anna Wing, who played Lou in EastEnders during the 1980s, become MBEs.

The Queen’s birthday honours also recognised names from other areas of public life including golfer Nick Faldo and poet Andrew Motion, who are knighted, cookery presenter Delia Smith (CBE) and Olympian Gail Emms (MBE).
