Speech competition offers Olivier prize

A unique Facebook competition is offering theatre fans the opportunity to attend not just the Olivier Awards, but also the exclusive after-show celebration.

All entrants have to do to be in with a chance of winning the amazing prize, which also includes a night in a top London hotel, is record their own award acceptance speech and upload it to the Olivier Awards Facebook page.

London’s premier theatrical awards ceremony is always a glamorous, star-studded affair, and this year is set to be bigger than ever. The ceremony will be staged on 15 April at the Royal Opera House, where Sweeney Todd stars Michael Ball and Imelda Staunton will play host to an evening of celebration and unique entertainment.

In addition to the ceremony at the famous Covent Garden venue, the awards will also be streamed live to a gathering of invited guests on Broadway and to a public event hosted by Magic 105.4FM’s Neil Fox and musical theatre star Louise Dearman in Covent Garden piazza.

So take inspiration from the great acceptance speeches of our time, the Kate Winslets, the Gwyneth Paltrows and the Tamsin Greigs, and laugh, cry, shout, scream, dance and wave props with outrageous aplomb, film yourself and keep your fingers crossed that you could be at the 2012 Olivier Awards with MasterCard and maybe even provide inspiration for one of the night’s big winners.
