Missing a show can be devastating. And as time whizzes by in a blink of an eye, it’s so easy to do. Luckily, thanks to recent initiatives in the theatre industry, many are available to watch in cinemas across the nation. One such show is The King And I.

The production – that transferred from Broadway’s The Lincoln Center Theater to the London Palladium for the summer – starred Kelli O’Hara and Ken Watanabe and garnered rave reviews. Theatre fans flooded the West End to see this classic musical during its limited run, and now people all over the world will be getting to know it for one night only on 29 November.

This filmed performance will allow you to experience all the majesty of the grand sets and elaborate costumes, along with the timeless story and music. Plus, as it’s a cinematic experience, you’ll feel like your on stage with the cast thanks to the multiple camera angles and close-ups. Even if you saw it live on stage, it’s a whole other experience.

The Roger and Hammerstein classic is set in the 1860s and tells the story of a British teacher named Anna who is hired by the modernist King of Siam to teach his many wives and children English. But this appointment leads to a bitter conflict – and, secretly, a burgeoning love – between the two, neither of whom are prepared to admit their feelings.

The King and I: From The Palladium will be in cinemas across the UK on 29 November. Tickets to this one-off screening of the critically-acclaimed musical are now on sale here.
