The Wind In The Willows at the Rose Theatre Kingston

Rose stages Wind In The Willows

Published 22 March 2016

Rose Theatre Kingston will stage a brand new production of Kenneth Grahame’s classic The Wind In The Willows as its annual family festive offering this December.

Following the success of last year’s hit A Christmas Carol, Grahame’s much-loved tale of the famous riverbank-dwelling friends will be adapted and directed by Ciaran McConville.

Playing from 6 December to 3 January, the Christmas production will bring the adventures of Mole, Ratty, Badger and Toad to the stage, with a cast of as yet unannounced actors joined by budding actors from the south London theatre’s talented Rose Youth Theatre company.

Written in 1908, Grahame’s story of friendship and courage tells the tale of the timid Mole and his unwitting embarkment into an unknown world when his break from spring cleaning leads to everything from encounters with the automobile-addicted Toad to an evil invasion from the scary Wild Woods…

Anyone aged 10 to 19-years-old with a hankering to tread the boards can apply to join the Rose Youth Theatre and have the chance to audition for The Wind In The Willows. Up to 50 young performers will then have the chance to work alongside an award-winning creative team and experienced teaching staff to sharpen their craft and perform in alternate shows for the five week run.
