Reveal your Wicked side

First Published 17 April 2008, Last Updated 18 April 2008

Wicked, the musical based on the story of the two witches in The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz, is giving its London fans a chance to indulge their wicked side for a second year running. This year’s annual Wicked Day will be held on Sunday 28 October, just in time for Halloween, in Cardinal Place, around the corner from the musical’s home, the Apollo Victoria.

Last year’s Wicked Day, the first in the UK, was held in Seven Dials, Covent Garden, and featured Wicked-themed events and activities in local shops, prizes, a sweepstake and the Be Wicked Singing Contest. The wickedness continues in this year’s event with more themed activities, giveaways and appearances by some of the cast of the musical.

As part of the festivities, Wicked is living up to its green theme by lending its support to environmental initiatives in the local South Westminster area and inviting Wicked fans to become involved.

Adapted from the book by Gregory Maguire, the musical Wicked tells the story of green-skinned Elphaba and popular Galinda, two very different girls who meet in college and become unlikely friends, and how they grow up to become the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good, characters from L Frank Baum’s famous story The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz. The musical has just celebrated a year in London.
