Punchdrunk’s family show reveals crew

Published 30 January 2015

Casting has been announced for Against Captain’s Orders: A Journey Into The Uncharted, Punchdrunk’s forthcoming collaboration with the National Maritime Museum for six to 12-year-olds and their families.

The theatrical exhibit, which runs from 28 March to 31 August, will feature a cast including Michael Cusick, Sarah Dowling, Lowri James, Sammy Kissin, Kathryn McGarr, Danny Millar, Matt Odell and Richard Popple.

After donning life jackets as part of the crew of HMS Adventure, visitors will take on seafaring roles of Ship’s Watch, Navigation, Midshipmen and Salvage as they are called to navigate through the exhibition.

Combining the National Maritime Museum’s wealth of history and artefacts with Punchdrunk Enrichment’s innovation and commitment to creating captivating educational experiences, the experience will allow audience members to harness the heroics of rescuer Grace Darling, the intuition of Naval officer Captain Bligh and the intellect of explorer Sir Francis Drake to live through their very own nautical adventure.

Written by Simon Davis and directed by Peter Higgin, Against Captain’s Orders: A Journey Into The Uncharted promises to be “exciting, enlightening and perhaps a tiny bit dangerous” as attendees are invited through the doors of the museum to explore the many doorways to other times and worlds.
