Potted Potter to enchant London again

First Published 21 December 2012, Last Updated 28 December 2012

The hit Harry Potter experience Potted Potter is hopping on its Nimbus 2000 and flying back to the West End next Easter.

The show, which attempts to cram all seven Harry Potter novels into one 70-minute production without the use of magic, will play from 23 March to 14 April at the Garrick theatre as part of its world tour that has included a 16-week Off-Broadway run and a Christmas season in Chicago.

The magical production, which follows the adventures of wee wizard Harry and his cohorts as they struggle against the evil Lord Voldemort and his followers, was last in London in the summer of 2011 when the Quidditch-playing, Hogwarts-exploring, mayhem-filled production was so successful it received an Olivier Award nomination.

When it arrives back in London, the Dumbledore-delighting production, described by Time Out as “a joyous, very lovable romp through Rowling’s back catalogue”, will star creators and original stars Dan and Jeff, whose other content-squeezing productions included Potted Pirates and the Olivier Award-nominated Potted Panto.

Potted Potter will play matinee performances throughout the Easter period, while in the evening the theatre turns from a land of dragons, wizards and goblins into 1980s soft rock-loving America when the big hair-sporting, guitar-toting musical Rock Of Ages takes to the stage.
