Tina Turner is the undisputed Queen of Rock and Roll. So it’s unsurprising that a musical based on her life has been such a hit since it opened at the Aldwych Theatre back in 2018. An instant classic, it feels like it’s just always been on in the West End! We’ve taken a look back at our top 5 favourite moments from the last few years of Tina – The Tina Turner Musical.

1. Tina performs at the Olivier Awards

As one of the nominees for Mastercard Best New Musical at the 2019 Oliviers, the cast of Tina performed at the ceremony. Decked in very fitting black and gold, Adrienne Warren – who originated the role of Tina – belted it out like the Queen herself. Check out her beautiful voice in the performance below:

2. Sing It From The Rooftops

In the lead up to West End LIVE 2022, we put together a bunch of pop-up performances on rooftops around the West End. Find out more about the unique performances in iconic London locations in our article here, and watch Aisha Jawando absolutely killing it on the roof of Covent Garden – in the rain no less!

3. Jammy Kasongo gives us his top 5!

The wonderful Jammy Kasongo – who used to play Ike Turner – gives us the run down and the insider scoop on his favourite Top 5 Tina moments: that’s right, we’re getting meta with it!

4. Tina at West End LIVE

Combining the best elements of a rock concert and a musical, Tina is always one of the most anticipated acts at West End LIVE every summer. 2022 was no exception! The cast revved the crowd up to a proper boogie, belting out some of the top chart hits with some slick choreography and bags of energy.

5. Kobna Holdbrook-Smith wins an Olivier

The Mary Poppins Returns and Paddington 2 actor is rapidly rising up the ranks towards national treasure. But the multi-talented Kobna Holdbrook-Smith is a triple threat, proving he can dance and sing incredibly by not only originating the role of Ike, but – spoiler alert – winning the Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Musical in 2019.

So if you found yourself tapping your feet (or belting along) to any of these videos, then Tina – The Tina Turner Musical is the show for you! Grab your tickets below!
