First Published 11 August 2011, Last Updated 11 August 2011

Scott Bakula, known to many as the star of cult American science fiction drama Quantum Leap, is to join the cast of Terrible Advice at the Menier Chocolate Factory this September.

Bakula made his name playing Quantum Leap’s time-travelling lead character Sam Beckett – whose catchphrase was ‘Oh boy’ – from 1989 to 1993, winning a Golden Globe for his performance in 1991. His credits also include Chuk, Star Trek: Enterprise and Men Of A Certain Age on television and several stage performances in the US.

Bakula joins Sharon Horgan, Andy Nyman and Caroline Quentin in Terrible Advice, the debut play by Canadian actor and writer Saul Rubinek. Bakula plays Jake, who shares a secret and offers some advice to his best friend Stanley (Nyman) who plans to marry Delila (Horgan).

Terrible Advice – directed by former Muppets collaborator Frank Oz – plays at the Menier Chocolate Factory from 22 September to 12 November (press night 29 September).
