No more Dancing in London streets

First Published 17 April 2008, Last Updated 21 April 2008

Dancing In The Streets closes in London on 14 July after a run of two years. The toe-tapping Motown show is embarking on a UK and international tour immediately after its final West End performance.

Initially housed at the Cambridge theatre, the press night of Dancing In The Streets was delayed a day to 8 July 2005 due to the bombings in London the day before. The show ran at the Cambridge until April 2006 when it transferred to the Aldwych for a 12-week run. It then moved again, opening at its present home, the Playhouse, on 1 August 2006.

A celebration of the Motown stable, Dancing In The Streets recreates many of the hits that came out of the era by acts including Diana Ross and the Supremes, Stevie Wonder, Martha and the Vandellas, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, The Four Tops, The Temptations and Marvin Gaye.

After closing on 14 July, Dancing In The Streets has its first international date in Germany on 24 July. It begins a UK tour in Cardiff on 27 August.

No further productions have yet been announced for the Playhouse. CB
