The Drowned Man: A Hollywood Fable

New trailer for Drowned Man

First Published 22 October 2013, Last Updated 22 October 2013

Dark, atmospheric, ominous. Punchdrunk has released a new trailer for The Drowned Man: A Hollywood Fable that, with its threatening voiceover, could be advertising a big screen thriller.

“I’m going to show you something you’ve never seen before,” the unseen narrator promises, and as this trailer is brand new, he’s definitely not wrong.

The latest production from acclaimed site-specific theatre company Punchdrunk opened at a disused Paddington sorting office earlier this summer, leading audiences through a story inspired by Georg Büchner’s Woyzeck but set in a world of studio glamour and betrayal, where they can explore the unfolding tale across four storeys of the previously vacant building.

With every effort being made to immerse the mask-wearing audience within the production, when Official London Theatre’s Charlotte Marshall saw the production, she wrote: “In each room, from a dusty grocery store filled with vintage canned peas to a wardrobe department stacked with 1940s dresses, an office concealing a book of escorts on one of its messy desks to a modest house with beds left unmade, every inch is filled with detail.”
