MyAnna Buring to star in The Wasp

MyAnna Buring returns for West End Wasp

Published 30 October 2015

Ripper Street star MyAnna Buring will reprise her role in Hampstead Theatre hit The Wasp when the drama transfers to London’s Trafalgar Studio 2 in December.

Buring will be joined in Morgan Lloyd Malcolm’s thriller by Laura Donnelly. The star of upcoming ITV series Beowulf replaces original cast member Sinead Matthews, who could not be part of the transfer as she will be appearing in the National Theatre production of Evening At The Talk House.

Buring, whose stage credits include Strangers On A Train at the Gielgud Theatre, plays Carla in the drama that asks how long we hang on to our childhood experiences and what lengths we will go to in order to come to terms with them.

Donnelly, who starred in The River both at the Royal Court and on Broadway, plays her childhood friend Heather. Their lives have taken them in very different directions: Carla lives a hand-to-mouth existence while Heather has a high-flying career and a beautiful home. As they awkwardly reminisce about the past, Heather presents Carla with a bag of cash and an awkward proposition.

The Wasp, which runs from 8 December to 9 January, follows another Hampstead Theatre Downstairs hit, Four Minutes Twelve Seconds, into the intimate West End venue. The school-set Olivier Award nominated drama runs from 10 November.
