Mr Popper’s Penguins waddle into the West End

Kenny Wax Family Entertainment has announced the West End debut of new family musical Mr Popper’s Penguins, which will open at the Criterion Theatre for a festive run from 15 – 31 December.

Mr & Mrs Popper and their remarkable family of performing penguin puppets come to London direct from a UK tour and US première at New York’s renowned New Victory Theatre.

With original music and lyrics, and a family of performing penguins brought vividly to life through the magic of puppetry, this delightful musical adaptation of Richard and Florence Atwater’s popular book (also made into a Hollywood film starring Jim Carrey) is produced by the same team behind Olivier Award nominee Hetty Feather.

Mr Popper’s Penguins is the story of Mr Popper, painter and decorator by day, who dreams of Antarctic adventures. He is astounded when one day a packing crate arrives on his doorstep, out of which waddles a penguin!

The cast will include Lucy Grattan (Greta/Admiral Drake), Scott Jones (Understudy/ASM), Toby Manley (Captain Cook/Mr. Greenbaum), Russell Morton (Mr. Popper) and Roxanne Palmer (Mrs. Popper).

The show will run underneath Mischief Theatre hit The Comedy About A Bank Robbery, a madcap caper about one enormous diamond, eight incompetent crooks and a snoozing security guard.
