Yet another hit season is on the way from Maly Drama Theatre of St Petersburg! They’re bringing their brilliant retelling of Chekhov’s masterpiece, Three Sisters, to London’s Vaudeville Theatre this summer.

Playing 10 performances only between Wednesday 19 June and Saturday 29 June, Maly Drama Theatre’s luminous reinvention of the tragicomedy is returning to the West End.

The production follows last year’s hit season at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, where Maly Drama Theatre performed Uncle Vanya and Life & Fate to critical acclaim.

The company is internationally renowned, and became the first international company to win an Olivier Award, doing so in 1989 for Stars In The Morning Sky. They have also claimed numerous Golden Mask Awards, overseen by their esteemed artistic director Lev Dodin, who has been at the helm for 35 years.

Three Sisters is Chekhov’s classic story of the Prozorov family, contending with their disillusioned lives in provincial Russia.

Dodin says of the complex play, “Chekhov speaks with passion and eloquence about the hopelessness of our life, about the tragic discrepancies between our yearnings and reality, about the vital importance of staying true to oneself and preserving your dignity.”
