Sarah-Louise Young’s acclaimed solo show Julie Madly Deeply, exploring the life of British icon Julie Andrews, will play a limited run at the Trafalgar Studio 2 this Christmas.

Playing from 25 November (press night 26 November) to 4 January, the cabaret show charts the journey of the much-loved stage and screen actress from her beginnings as a child star to the challenges of losing her singing voice, interweaving songs from her hugely popular films, including Mary Poppins and The Sound Of Music, with stories and anecdotes about her life.

Directed by Russell Lucas, Young’s previous shows include Cabaret Whore and Cabaret Whore Encore!, but the writer and performer has also appeared on the London stage with Fascinating Aïda and as a member of award-winning comedy troupe The Showstoppers, who have brought their improvised musical to numerous venues across the capital.

Described by The Times as a “quick-witted, love-filled slice of creative cabaret [that] needs to be seen,” Julie Madly Deeply arrives at the intimate Whitehall venue following successful runs at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and on tour.

The acclaimed show will open at the Trafalgar Studio 2 following current production Hidden In the Sand, which sees Olivier Award winner Sally Dexter take on the role of a Greek Cypriot refugee, and Mrs Lowry And Son, a two-hander about the early life of L S Lowry, which plays from 30 October to 23 November.
