Jet Set Go! flies into Jermyn Street

Published 13 February 2009

New British musical Jet Set Go!, which premiered at the 2008 Edinburgh Festival, is to transfer to London’s Jermyn Street theatre in April.

The tongue-in-cheek tale of the lives of cabin crew opens on 2 April, following previews from 31 March, and runs until 18 April. It previously received its London debut at Theatre503 in September 2008.

Jet Set Go! is a story of mile-high love and lust featuring colourful characters including the Puerto Rican stewardess Julia with a lover in every country and the idealistic Ryan who dreams of his perfect guy.

When the show premiered in Edinburgh, it was met with a host of four and five star reviews, with the Daily Telegraph’s Dominic Cavendish calling it “delightful, inventive and witty”.

This original British musical features a book and lyrics by Jake Brunger, a member of the Royal Court Young Writers’ Programme that is at the forefront of producing new British theatrical talent. The show’s music and lyrics are provided by Pippa Cleary, whose song Christmas Without You was short-listed in the 2007 Notes For The Stage competition. A final year music student at Bristol University, Cleary, has previously composed music for productions of The Wonderful World Of Dissocia at the Wickham theatre and The Darkling Plain at the Edinburgh Festival.

Jet Set Go! is staged by Jermyn Street theatre in association with Take Note Theatre, a company founded to bring new musical theatre to a wider audience. Its founder, Luke Sheppard, who is also Development Co-ordinator for Perfect Pitch, directs the high-flying show.
