In The Night Garden arrives in London

First Published 27 January 2015, Last Updated 28 January 2015

Igglepiggle, Upsy Daisy and Makka Pakka will leave the comfort of their magical forest to entertain families in London this summer when In The Night Garden Live, a musical theatre experience based on the popular children’s television series, arrives at two locations in the capital.

The production will be staged in an all-weather, purpose-built show dome at the O2’s Live Quarter from 28 May to 13 June and Richmond Old Deer Park from 20 June to 4 July before heading north on a UK tour.

The inflatable site-specific structure promises to create an immersive theatrical experience that makes audiences feel like they’re actually entering the infamous Night Garden of its title and introduces them to many of the TV series’ playful characters.

Young In The Night Garden fans will have two shows to choose from. The first – The Ninky Nonk Show – sees Igglepiggle lose his blanket and all his friends help him find it and the second – The Pinky Ponk Show – focuses on Makka Pakka as he washes everyone’s faces until his sponge gets stuck in Upsy Daisy’s megaphone.

Brought to life on stage using full-size costumes and enchanting puppets, the shows are written by the BAFTA-winning television series’ creator Andrew Davenport and directed by Royal Ballet director and choreographer Will Tuckett, whose acclaimed production of The Wind In The Willows took home the Best Entertainment and Family prize at last year’s Olivier Awards with MasterCard.
