Greenwich hosts Gingerbread Man Storytime

First Published 29 July 2015, Last Updated 29 July 2015

With just a week to go until the return of The Great British Bake Off, the Greenwich Theatre is preparing to welcome its own baked goods with the forthcoming arrival of David Wood’s Storytime – The Gingerbread Man.

The storytelling version of Wood’s much-loved tale about the inhabitants of a Welsh dresser will play two performances at the venue on 25 August.

Charting the adventures of Herr Von Cuckoo and his kitchen clan – Mr Salt, Miss Pepper, The Old (Tea) Bag, the always hungry Sleek the Mouse and the iconic title character – Wood will bring the story to life with magic, music and plenty of audience participation.

One of Britain’s best-known children’s dramatists, Wood’s work is a regular feature on the London stage. His acclaimed adaptation of Goodnight Mister Tom took home the Olivier Award for Best Entertainment & Family in 2013, while his Olivier Award nominated production of The Tiger Who Came To Tea is set to return to the Lyric Theatre in November.

Suitable for children aged three and older, David Wood’s Storytime – The Gingerbread Man will play performances at 11:00 and 14:00. Tickets can be booked through the Greenwich Theatre’s website.
