The Confessions Of Gordon Brown

Gordon Brown confesses at Ambassadors

First Published 13 February 2014, Last Updated 9 April 2014

The Confessions Of Gordon Brown, Kevin Toolis’ acclaimed comedy about the darkest secrets of the former Prime Minister, will play a limited season at the Ambassadors Theatre from June.

Playing from 3 June to 30 July, the production exposes the plotting, betrayals and the hair gel of the ex-British leader, revealing what it takes to rule a nation and how one MP’s dream of power ran awry.

Ian Grieve will play Brown, reprising his role as the Labour politician following his appearance in the show’s run at the Trafalgar Studio 2 in 2013.

The play premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival last summer, when it was described by The Telegraph’s Dominic Cavendish as “a theatrical reckoning that has been long – too long – in coming, but now arrives in the form of a sleek, bleakly amusing monologue”.

The Confessions Of Gordon Brown will play Tuesday and Wednesday performances alongside percussion sensation Stomp, which is eligible for the BBC Radio 2 Audience Award at this year’s Olivier Awards with MasterCard. To vote for your favourite long-running show visit the Olivier Awards website before 4 March.
