Ghosts leaves Duchess early

Published 17 March 2010

Iain Glen’s production of Ibsen’s Ghosts is to close at the Duchess theatre on 27 March. It had been booking until 15 May.

Ghosts stars Lesley Sharp as Mrs Alving, a woman who still has to bear the consequences of her dead husband’s philandering behaviour. When her absent son returns home, she soon realises that she will never escape the past.

Glen, who makes his directorial debut with this production, also plays Mrs Alving’s moral advisor, Pastor Manders. Jessica Raine, Harry Treadaway and Malcolm Storry also star.

Ghosts, which opened at the Duchess theatre on 8 February, is due to be followed, on 24 June, by the long-running Broadway musical The Fantasticks, an allegorical story about two fathers determined to make their children fall in love. As yet no further productions have been announced to fill the gap left by the early closure of Ghosts.
