Funny Girl cast recording confirmed

First Published 13 July 2016, Last Updated 13 July 2016

The recording captures Sheridan Smith’s much lauded performance as Fanny Brice, together with Darius Campbell and the London cast. Some of musical theatre’s most iconic songs will be featured, including People, You Are Woman, I Am Man and, of course, Don’t Rain On My Parade. Listen to some snippets from the album above.

Funny Girl is currently playing at the Savoy Theatre, marking its first return to the West End in 50 years, and tells the story of Fanny Brice, whose vocal talents and comedic ability see her rise from Brooklyn music hall singer to Broadway star.

With music by one of America’s all-time great songwriters, Jule Styne (‘Gentlemen Prefer Blondes’, ‘Gypsy’), lyrics by Bob Merrill and book by Isobel Lennart, the musical first opened on Broadway in 1964, transferring to London in 1966.

So make sure the joke’s not on you; book today for Funny Girl.
