ENB announces fairytale Christmas

First Published 9 August 2012, Last Updated 9 August 2012

Tamara Rojo’s first Christmas season at the London Coliseum as Artistic Director of English National Ballet will bring The Nutcracker and The Sleeping Beauty to London.

The classic choice from the new head of the famous dance company will bring Wayne Eagling’s version of The Nutcracker to the capital from 12 December to 5 January, complete with a frosty Edwardian setting and costumes decorated with sparkling Swarovski crystals.

Eagling’s production is the 11th version of the tale of Clara’s enchanted Christmas Eve since ENB first performed The Nutcracker in 1950.

Keeping the enchantment alive for the whole of the festive season, ENB’s Kenneth MacMillan-choreographed production of The Sleeping Beauty runs from 9 to 19 January 2013, following a UK tour.

The magical story of Princess Aurora, who is cursed to sleep for 100 years, was revived by ENB in 2005 and staged at the Coliseum in 2008.
