Kerry Ellis and Louise Dearman, Live In Concert... Together

Ellis and Dearman release Smash single

First Published 25 August 2015, Last Updated 25 August 2015

Ahead of their West End concert, leading ladies Kerry Ellis and Louise Dearman have released their own stunning version of Let Me Be Your Star, the song originally written for hit musical TV series Smash.

The pair of former Wicked stars, who have known each other for nearly 20 years since training at Laine Theatre Arts, recorded the single early in the preparations for their one-off concert Kerry Ellis And Louise Dearman Live In Concert… Together. The show will be staged at the Prince Edward Theatre on 27 September.

Speaking about the track, which can be downloaded free from the concert’s website, Ellis, who was last seen in the West End playing Grizabella in Cats, said: “Recording Let Me Be Your Star was the perfect way to kickstart our preparations for the concert. It’s a dream of a song and a joy to sing it with Louise!”

Dearman, who has uniquely played both of Wicked’s leading ladies, added, “I just love this song and hope everyone else will too. I can’t wait to perform it live on the Prince Edward stage. It’s going to be a very special evening!”

You can get a taste of the track in the video below, which also features – we’re pretty sure – footage of Official London Theatre interviewing the acclaimed actresses
