Eddie Redmayne speaks out for Mousetrap Theatre Projects

Published 24 November 2016

Here at Official London Theatre (run by Society Of London Theatre) we are passionate about championing a wide variety of charitable causes, and are proud to be the principal funding supporter of Mousetrap Theatre Projects.

Eddie Redmayne, a Patron of Mousetrap Theatre Projects, has made a 60-second promotional film about the work of this theatre education charity. The short film is being shown at all UK Picturehouse Cinemas for two weeks prior to the screening of the latest Harry Potter film, Fantastic Beasts And Where to Find Them, in which Eddie stars.

Mousetrap Theatre Projects is a charity committed to taking disadvantaged young people and young people with special needs to outstanding theatre across London. Last year they enabled more than 15,000 young people to see shows including opera and dance. Most Mousetrap theatre visits offer drama workshops where young people are encouraged to learn new skills, gain new perspectives and increase their confidence. Mousetrap’s remit is to open up the magical world of theatre to those young people who would otherwise not have the opportunity to attend.

Perhaps the essence of Mousetrap is best put by Eddie in his own words at the end of the film “I hope you might consider becoming involved with this charity, as I have, because I genuinely believe that theatre can change lives.”
