Claire Skinner in Hampstead’s Rabbit Hole

Published 21 December 2015

Claire Skinner, Tom Goodman-Hill and Alison Steadman will lead the cast of David Lindsay-Abaire’s Rabbit Hole when the Pulitzer Prize-winning drama receives its UK premiere at the Hampstead Theatre in the new year.

Skinner and Goodman-Hill will take on the roles of Becca and Howie, a happy suburban couple who have everything they could possibly want until a sudden and shocking event turns their lives upside down.

Outnumbered star Skinner will make her Hampstead Theatre debut in the production following her recent turn in the Theatre Royal Bath’s The Father, which received its London premiere at the Tricycle Theatre before transferring to the West End.

Goodman-Hill, whose recent stage credits include the National Theatre’s critically acclaimed The Effect, returns to the Swiss Cottage venue following 2009’s Darker Shores.

Olivier Award winner Steadman, who took home one of London theatre’s most prestigious accolades in 1993 for her performance in The Rise And Fall Of Little Voice, has performed in numerous productions at the venue, including Losing Louis, Marvin’s Room, Uncle Vanya and Abigail’s Party, but the actress is also well-known for her screen credits, which include popular television series Gavin And Stacey and Fat Friends.

The trio is joined in the cast by Georgina Rich (RSC’s The Merchant Of Venice) and recent RADA graduate Sean Delaney, who makes his professional debut in the production.

Rabbit Hole, which is directed by the Hampstead Theatre’s Artistic Director Edward Hall, will play from 29 January to 5 March.  Charting a couple’s journey through grief, the play follows Becca and Howie as they strive to find a way back to each other following a life-changing event.

The production will be the first show to open on the venue’s main stage in 2016 and follows current hit Hapgood, starring Lisa Dillon, which recently extended its run until 23 January.
