West End Bake Off

West End Bake Off

Christopher Biggins is Bake Off judge

First Published 18 May 2015, Last Updated 19 May 2015

Christopher Biggins will join Barbara Windsor to judge the tasty theatrical treats on offer at the first ever West End Bake Off this weekend.

The West End equivalent of Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry, the acting and entertaining duo will be on hand at St Anne’s Church Courtyard on 23 May to decide whether Charlie And The Chocolate Factory’s creative concoctions are of Willy Wonka quality, whether Les Misérables’ mouth-watering mixtures prove revolutionary or whether Wicked’s offerings are as popular as its hit song.

The Roald Dahl-inspired musical, Cameron Mackintosh’s legendary production and the Oz-set tale will join a batch of hit London shows set to showcase their baking abilities at the charity event.

Other baker-partakers include Beautiful –The Carole King Musical, Billy Elliot The Musical, The Book Of Mormon, Mamma Mia!, The Mousetrap, The Phantom Of The Opera, The Railway Children and War Horse.

Those wanting to support their favourite show – or anybody in need of a little sugar fix – should head to the church courtyard, situated next to the Queen’s Theatre, between 11:00 and 13:00 on Saturday to sample the (hopefully) soggy bottom-free treats.

All monies made at the West End Bake Off, which is supported by The Mackintosh Foundation, will go towards Acting For Others, the umbrella organisation representing 15 UK theatrical charities that offer emotional and financial support to members of the entertainment industry who have fallen on hard times.

Anyone unable to make it will undoubtedly miss out on the day’s delectable delights but can still support the charity by donating via its Just Giving page.
