Boeing Boeing takes off

First Published 17 April 2008, Last Updated 18 April 2008

The cast of Boeing Boeing, the hit farce at the Comedy theatre, will be packing its flight bags after Christmas as the show closes on 5 January prior to a national and international tour.

Boeing Boeing opened at the Comedy on 15 February 2007, with an original cast including Roger Allam as playboy Parisian Bernard and Mark Rylance as his introverted old school chum Robert, who is flabbergasted by Bernard’s carefully scheduled love life juggling three air-hostess fiancées. All runs smoothly until Boeing introduces a faster plane which plays havoc with Bernard’s love life.

The original West End production of Marc Camoletti’s farce, translated by Beverley Cross, was a long-running hit in the 1960s. This slick new production was created by director Matthew Warchus and designer Rob Howell.

The current cast is Kevin McNally as Bernard, Neil Stuke as Robert, Jean Marsh as Bernard’s long-suffering housekeeper Bertha, plus Jennifer Ellison, Tracy-Ann Oberman and Elena Roger as Bernard’s multi-national air hostess girlfriends. The cast for the subsequent tour – with dates in New York, Australia and around the UK – has not been announced.CB
