Beverley will always love you

The day is here. Soul sensation Beverley Knight steps onto stage as Rachel Marron for the first time in The Bodyguard tonight. To celebrate, we’ve been given footage of the British singer recording the iconic I Will Always Love You.

The Dolly Parton track reclaimed by Whitney Houston for the soundtrack of the hit film on which The Bodyguard is based is, of course, the benchmark by which all Rachel Marrons will be judged. The burst of emotion, the heart torn apart by a love that can never be, the climactic top note; the timeless tune sends shivers of excitement down the spine.

It is just one of the Whitney classic featured in the new musical telling the story of a global superstar forced to hire former Secret Service agent Frank Farmer when a fan turns into a dangerous stalker. Among the other pop-tastic songs in the score are I Have Nothing, Queen Of The Night and I’m Every Woman.

But above all others it will undoubtedly be I Will Always Love You that audiences and new cast members, including Tristan Gemmill, will be waiting to hear. We’ve got a sample for you, to whet your appetite.
