Backstage at Kids Week with The Cast

First Published 17 April 2008, Last Updated 15 May 2008

It is a busy time for family friendly theatre this fortnight with Kids Week in full swing, which is why the third edition of Official London Theatre’s fortnightly podcast, The Cast, focuses on theatre for the young (and the young at heart).

Hosted by Matthew Amer, The Cast includes a backstage report from last week’s spectacular Kids Week launch event in Covent Garden. X Factor star Brenda Edwards tells us why she wanted to get involved with the event, and organiser Emma De Souza explains why it is so vital to get children into West End theatres.

Reporter Katie Collins grabs some time with Tony Graham, Artistic Director at children’s theatre the Unicorn in Southwark, to ask him about his dedication to presenting theatre for youngsters and the importance of having a permanent base like the Unicorn.

Plus, The Cast picks some theatrical treats for older theatregoers to enjoy in the new autumn season.

The Cast is the latest way to indulge your passion for theatre, and can be listened to on your computer or downloaded to a handy MP3 player so that you can enjoy it on the way to work, while you're out jogging or anywhere at all really!

We would love to know what you think of this new way of sharing our enjoyment of London theatre, so please have a listen to The Cast and tell us what you think by emailing editorial@officiallondontheatre.co.uk At the moment, The Cast is a short-term project, but if you tell us you like it or how we can make it better, it could run for longer than The Mousetrap (or, at least, The Woman In Black).
