Artsdepot welcomes Fungus

First Published 17 April 2008, Last Updated 18 April 2008

Fungus The Bogeyman will be in residence at Artsdepot this Christmas as a stage adaptation of Raymond Briggs’s classic story comes to the North London venue from 24 November-6 January.

Created by Pilot Theatre and artistic director Marcus Romer, this adaptation of Fungus The Bogeyman is a mixture of slapstick, live music, dance and drama which takes audiences into the underground world of bogey wonderland. Fungus’s job is to venture up into the bright overworld to scare dry cleaners, but when one adventure backfires, the Bogeypeople’s worst nightmare becomes a reality – a dry cleaner discovers their existence.

Briggs wrote the story of Fungus The Bogeyman 30 years ago. His many other stories include Father Christmas and The Snowman, both of which were made into popular animated films. The stage adaptation of The Snowman, by Birmingham Repertory Theatre, celebrates its 10th anniversary with a run at the Peacock this Christmas, from 5 December.

Fungus The Bogeyman is suitable for theatregoers aged four and over.
