Another Spoonful Of Stiles & Drewe

Published 30 December 2008

Fans of composers George Stiles and Anthony Drewe have another chance to revel in the pair’s music as a recording of July’s gala concert celebrating their songwriting partnership is now on sale.

The one-off concert A Spoonful Of Stiles & Drewe was held at Her Majesty’s theatre on 6 July 2008 to celebrate 25 years of collaboration between the Laurence Olivier Award-winning composing duo, whose many musical theatre songwriting credits include Honk!, Just So, Peter Pan and Mary Poppins.

The concert featured material from these popular musicals, plus exclusive new songs from their forthcoming show, Soho Cinders, performed by a line up of stars including West End regulars Joanna Riding, Claire Moore and Clive Rowe, Hairspray’s Leanne Jones, Avenue Q’s Julie Atherton and Daniel Boys, former Mary Poppins Scarlett Strallen and Lisa O’Hare, reality star Helena Blackman, Wicked’s Oliver Tompsett and James Gillan, as well as pop star Gareth Gates in his West End debut.

A live highlights recording of the concert is now available to buy from www.spoonfulcd.com. All profits from the recording go to Mercury Musical Developments, a British charity which nurtures new musical theatre writing, of which Stiles and Drewe are board members.
