Yesterday, the nominations for the 73rd annual Tony Awards were announced by Bebe Neuwirth and Brandon Victor Dixon. This year saw an abundance of West End actors and transfers earn nominations including Olivier winners The Ferryman, Bertie Carvel, and Laura Donnelly, plus Olivier nominees Ink, Paddy Considine, and Bunny Christie.

Leading the pack with the most nominations is the musical Hadestown – which was recently performed at the National Theatre before its Broadway transfer – which earned a whopping 14 nominations. Coming in a close second was the jukebox musical Ain’t Too Proud—The Life Of The Temptations with 12.

For plays, the aforementioned The Ferryman came top first for nominations with To Kill A Mocking Bird – each accumulating nine.

This year’s nominations veered away from run-of-the-mill expectations and features a diverse and exciting mix of productions. Winner will be announced on 9 June at the Tony Award ceremony.
