Following sell-out runs in New York and Dublin, the critically acclaimed and Olivier Award-winning Fishamble and Sebastian Harry’s play, On Blueberry Hill, is coming to the West End.

Written by Sebastian Barry, one of the most celebrated Irish writers of our generation and a current Laureate of Irish Fiction, this highly anticipated play will be running for a limited 8-week season at Trafalgar Studios.

Barry’s novels and plays have won, and been nominated for, including the MAN Booker Prize and the Irish Book Awards among many others. His international bestsellers include Days Without End and A Long Long Way.

Staying true to Barry’s beautiful trademark style, On Blueberry Hill tells the story of best friends and worst enemies, Christy (Niall Buggy) and PJ (David Ganly) who are destined to spend the next twenty years of their lives together. As the two men look back on the hope and torture of life outside, they gradually reveal events that led them to their present world with explosive, bittersweet consequences.

Neil Buggy, who is widely regarded as one of the top Irish actors of his generation, has taken to the stage in many leading roles including the titular role in Uncle Vanya, for which he won Best Actor at the Irish Times Theatre Awards; Casimir in Arisocrats, for which he won a Drama Desk Award, Obie Award, Time Out Award, and Clarence Derwent Award, and his Olivier Award-winning comedy performance in Dead Funny.

David Ganly is a stage and film actor known for starring in Chicago (Cambridge Theatre), Cinderella (Lyric Hammersmith), Girl From The North Country and many more. His film credits include Body Of Lies, Sunset Song and Space Truckers.

Directed by Fishamble’s Jim Culleton, this new play is bursting with humanity as it explores forgiveness, survival, and ultimately, love.
