Wicked extends run into 2017

Published 29 January 2016

The West End’s most magical musical Wicked has announced it has extended its booking period at the Apollo Victoria Theatre to 29 April 2017.

Demonstrating just how loved the Oz-set fantasy tale is, today’s news marks the 21st time the show has extended since making its London premiere in 2006. Fans will have the chance to snap up one of more than 500,000 tickets that will go on sale on 1 February.

Now in its 10th anniversary year, Wicked currently stars Emma Hatton and Savannah Stevenson as two unlikely magical friends, Elphaba and Glinda. When they first meet as two young sorcery students, the differences between the green skinned witch and the most popular girl in school drive them apart, but unforeseen circumstances lead them on an incredible journey of friendship and growing up to fulfil their destinies as the famous Witches of Oz.

Based on the international best seller by Gregory Macguire, the inspired retelling of the characters from The Wizard Of Oz features Academy Award winner Stephen Schwartz’s much-loved score, including the now iconic songs Defying Gravity, Popular and The Wizard And I.

One of the West End’s best loved long runners, Wicked triumphed at the Olivier Awards with MasterCard last year to take home the BBC Radio 2 Audience Award.

You can book tickets to see Wicked through us here or, for performances until 12 February, through our annual discount promotion Get Into London Theatre.
