Video: TheatreCraft’s Indhu Rubasingham

Published 20 November 2015

The 16 to 25-year-olds flocking to the Royal Opera House for today’s TheatreCraft may know exactly what they want to do as a career. Then again, they may not. But there’s probably one thing that can be said of all of them: they love theatre.

Meet this year’s TheatreCraft Ambassador Indhu Rubasingham. She was the same. At the age of 16 she didn’t have a clue where her career would take her but, like many of the young people wandering around the marketplace at today’s event, she knew that she had a big passion for the stage.

Earlier this month we caught up with the Tricycle Theatre Artistic Director and mastermind behind the National Theatre’s recent hit The Motherf**ker With The Hat to ask how she got into her career, what advice she would give attendees of today’s beyond-the-stage careers fair and why TheatreCraft – which is now staging its 10th event – is so important.

Watch the video above and be reassured that even someone who didn’t have access to an event showcasing the many opportunities that the theatre world offers can still make it in the industry they adore.
