The day after a Bank Holiday can be hard. You’re on a major sugar come down after the Easter binge and suddenly work doesn’t have quite the same appeal now you’ve had a glimpse at the healing magic of… well… not working on a week day. You need a pep talk. You need inspiration. You need this year’s Olivier Award nominees.

As you’d expect from a group of elite performers who have this year demonstrated such extraordinary levels of genius they have made it onto theatre’s most coveted list, they’re a wise old lot and the perfect people to offer some sage advice.

We caught up with a selection of the Olivier Awards’ class of 2016 including Kenneth Cranham, Natalie Dew, Laura Pitt-Pulford, Jemima Rooper and Catherine Steadman earlier this month to try to discover the secret of their success as they revealed the single best piece of advice they’ve ever been given. And from the courageous to the practical, there is a nugget of wisdom in there for everyone.

The winners of the Olivier Awards 2016 with MasterCard will be announced in a ceremony at the Royal Opera House on 3 April. You can be part of celebration at our Covent Garden Piazza event that will feature live performances and a live stream of the ceremony. You can also watch extended highlights of the show on ITV at 22:15.
